KEF (Kent Engineering and Foundry) is an iconic British audio brand renowned for its engineering innovation, particularly the Uni-Q driver technology. Founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke, the company initially shared premises with a metal-working operation on the banks of the River Medway in Kent. Over the decades, KEF established itself as a pioneer in the use of synthetic materials for speaker diaphragms and computer-aided design for acoustic engineering.

While the brand maintains its 'Maidstone' headquarters in the UK for research, development, and the hand-assembly of flagship products like the Muon and Blade series, the majority of its commercial production was shifted to international facilities following its acquisition by the Gold Peak (GP) Group. Today, it operates as a prestige brand within a global portfolio, focusing on luxury wireless hifi systems and professional-grade home cinema equipment.

Ownership of KEF transitioned from its British founders to Gold Peak Technology Group Limited, an industrial multinational based in Hong Kong. This partnership has allowed KEF to integrate advanced electronics and wireless connectivity into its traditional acoustic designs, securing its position in the modern digital audio market.
