Pickwick is a renowned tea brand with deep roots in Dutch history. Originally introduced in 1937, it was developed by the company Douwe Egberts, which has a heritage in coffee and tea dating back to 1753. The brand was named after the Dickens novel 'The Pickwick Papers' to give it a more international, English appeal at a time when British tea culture was highly regarded.
Today, Pickwick is part of the JDE Peet's portfolio, one of the world's largest pure-play coffee and tea companies. Most Pickwick products are manufactured in the Netherlands, specifically at their historical production sites. The company continues to maintain a dominant market position in Western Europe, offering a wide range of fruit, herbal, and black teas that are distributed globally by local subsidiaries and international distributors.
