Right Guard is an iconic brand in the personal care industry, originally launched in the United States by Gillette in 1960. It was initially marketed as the first aerosol deodorant aimed at family use, later pivoting to focus on male-oriented high-performance protection. The brand became widely known for its 'Power Stripe' technology and long-lasting odour protection.
Over the decades, the brand has changed hands through several major corporate mergers and divestitures. Initially owned by The Gillette Company, it moved to Procter & Gamble (P&G) during their merger in 2005. To comply with antitrust regulations, P&G sold the brand to Henkel in 2006. In early 2024, Thriving Brands LLC acquired Right Guard (along with Dry Idea) from Henkel, bringing it under their portfolio of personal care brands focused on growth and market presence.
In the UK and Ireland specifically, the brand has historically been manufactured and distributed through Henkel's European facilities, though ownership and distribution strategies have shifted toward specialized consumer goods companies like Thriving Brands in recent years.
