Discover where a brand or product originates
Dole is one of the world's most iconic brands in the fresh produce industry, with a legacy dating back to the mid-19th century. The brand's origins are deeply rooted in Hawaii, where it began as the Hawaiian Pineapple Company, eventually becoming synonymous with tropical fruits like pineapples and bananas. Over the decades, it expanded its operations globally, establishing a massive footprint in both agricultural production and processed fruit snacks.
In recent years, the corporate structure of Dole has undergone significant transformation. Following a major merger in 2021 between the Irish firm Total Produce and the U.S.-based Dole Food Company, a new entity called Dole plc was formed. This merger successfully integrated one of Europe's largest fresh produce distributors with a premier global fruit brand, creating a vertically integrated powerhouse in the global supply chain.
Today, Dole products are sourced from a vast network of company-owned farms and independent growers across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia. While the brand carries an American heritage, its ultimate corporate home is now in Ireland, where the parent company is headquartered. This global structure allows Dole to maintain a year-round supply of fresh fruits and vegetables to markets worldwide while operating under a unified international management team.
