Spaten is one of the oldest and most prestigious breweries in Munich, Germany, with a history dating back to 1397. Known for its iconic malt shovel logo, Spaten is famously credited with brewing the first Munich Hell (pale lager) in 1894. The Oktoberfestbier shown is a seasonal specialty brewed specifically for the Munich Oktoberfest, adhering strictly to the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law).

While the brand remains deeply rooted in Bavarian tradition and is exclusively brewed in Munich to maintain its protected designation of origin, it is currently owned by the multinational drink and brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev. This ownership transition occurred following the merger of the Spaten-Franziskaner-Löwenbräu group with Interbrew, which eventually became part of the AB InBev global portfolio.
