JOZO is a well-established salt brand with a history dating back to 1929 in the Netherlands. The brand name is derived from 'Jodium Zout' (Iodized Salt), as it was one of the first brands to add iodine to salt to help prevent goiter in the Dutch population.
The product is primarily manufactured in the Netherlands, specifically in Hengelo, where one of the world's most advanced salt production facilities is located. The sea salt variants are sourced globally but refined and packaged within European facilities to meet JOZO's quality standards.
JOZO is currently owned by Nouryon, a global leader in specialty chemicals. Nouryon was formerly the specialty chemicals division of AkzoNobel before being acquired by The Carlyle Group and GIC in 2018. The brand continues to dominate the Dutch market while maintaining a significant presence in international markets.
