Kellogg is one of the most iconic names in the global food industry, founded in 1906 by Will Keith Kellogg. The brand's origin is famously linked to the sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan, where the accidental discovery of flaking wheat led to the creation of Corn Flakes. This innovation revolutionized breakfast habits globally, moving the morning meal away from heavy meats toward grain-based nutrition.
From its American roots, Kellogg expanded into a multinational powerhouse. In 2023, the original Kellogg Company underwent a significant corporate restructuring, splitting into two distinct entities: Kellanova and WK Kellogg Co. While WK Kellogg Co focuses on the North American cereal business, Kellanova oversees global snacking and international cereal brands. Consequently, the manufacturing operations are spread across numerous facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, and Australia to serve diverse markets.
Today, the brand remains a leader in the consumer packaged goods sector. Ownership is now divided between Kellanova (focusing on high-growth snacking and international markets) and WK Kellogg Co (maintaining the legacy cereal business in the U.S. and Canada), though both entities trace their lineage back to the original Michigan headquarters.
