The Famous Grouse is one of the world's most recognizable Scotch whiskies, originating in Perth, Scotland. It was first created by Matthew Gloag in 1896, originally named 'The Grouse Brand'. The whisky gained such popularity that it was renamed 'The Famous Grouse' in 1905, featuring the iconic Red Grouse bird on its label.

The production occurs primarily in Scotland, utilizing high-quality single malt whiskies such as The Macallan and Highland Park in its blend. The maturation and blending processes are carried out in traditional Scottish distilleries to maintain its smooth and well-balanced character.

Today, the brand is owned by Edrington, a private Scottish international spirits company. Edrington is unique in the industry as it is owned by a charitable trust, The Robertson Trust, ensuring that a significant portion of the company's profits go toward charitable causes in Scotland.
