The Masters Tournament is one of the four major championships in professional golf, famously held every year at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Established in 1934 by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts, it is the only major tournament that does not change venues, making the course itself as iconic as the athletes who compete there. The event is steeped in tradition, most notably the presentation of the Green Jacket to the winner and the Champions Dinner.
Ownership and operation of the tournament remain strictly private and independent. Unlike many global sporting franchises that are owned by publicly traded conglomerates, the Masters is owned and managed by the Augusta National Golf Club. This independence allows the organization to maintain high standards for its brand, limiting commercial interruptions and carefully selecting its global partners.
While the tournament itself is a service/event based in the USA, associated merchandise and apparel are produced through various licensing agreements. These items are primarily available during the tournament week at the club's pro shop, maintaining an aura of exclusivity that drives the brand's global prestige.
