Marantz is a world-renowned brand synonymous with high-fidelity audio engineering. The brand was founded in New York in 1953 by Saul Marantz, who developed the first 'Consolette' pre-amplifier in his home. Since then, the brand has become a cornerstone of the premium audio industry, known for its distinctive 'porthole' design and warm sound signature.

Over the decades, Marantz's ownership shifted through various corporations including Philips and a significant merger with Denon to form D&M Holdings in 2002. Today, Marantz is part of the Masimo Consumer division (formerly Sound United), which represents a portfolio of legendary audio brands. While luxury Reference Series products are typically manufactured at the specialized Shirakawa Audio Works in Japan to ensure artisanal quality, many of its consumer and mid-tier AV receivers are produced in specialized facilities in Vietnam or China.
