Newline is a performance-driven sportswear brand with a unique heritage rooted in military functionality. The brand was founded in 1981 by Helge Petersen, a member of the Danish Special Forces, who conceived the idea while parachuting when he noticed his clothes remained wet while his parachute stayed dry. This inspired him to create sport apparel from parachute fabric, launching a legacy of wind-resistant and moisture-wicking gear.
Over the decades, Newline transitioned from a niche Danish technical brand to an international player in the running and triathlon sectors. In 2018, the brand was acquired by the Danish sports group hummel A/S, which has since focused on integrating Newline's technical expertise with broader lifestyle and performance markets. Manufacturing is distributed across various global locations typical for high-performance apparel, primarily in Asia and Europe, depending on the specific product line.
