After a period of state ownership during the communist era, it was privatized and later acquired by international giants like Kraft Foods and Cadbury. Following the acquisition of Cadbury by Kraft (now Mondelez), the Romanian competition council mandated a divestment, leading to the brand being acquired by the investment group Meinl. Today, Kandia Dulce remains a dominant player in the Romanian confectionery market, operating a major production facility in Bucharest.
