Lineas is the largest private rail freight operator in Europe, providing end-to-end logistics solutions. The company's heritage traces back to the freight division of the Belgian national railway company, NMBS/SNCB. In 2015, the freight department was privatized and rebranded as B-Logistics before eventually becoming Lineas in 2017 to reflect its pan-European ambitions and its 'Green Xpress Network' of rail connections.
Headquartered in Brussels, the company operates an extensive fleet of locomotives and wagons throughout Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Austria. The ownership structure is a public-private partnership, with the private equity firm Argos Wityu holding a majority stake alongside the Belgian sovereign wealth fund, SFPIM. Lineas focuses on the 'modal shift' from road to rail to reduce carbon emissions in the European supply chain.
