Nightingale (N9E) is an enterprise-level monitoring and observability solution that originated in China. It was initially developed by the engineering teams behind Didi Chuxing and was created to handle massive scale monitoring requirements. The project has since evolved into a flagship open-source initiative under the stewardship of the Flashcat team.
The platform is primarily developed and maintained in China, with its core contributors and corporate backing located there. It is designed to be a cloud-native substitute for tools like Prometheus and Zabbix, offering high availability and a distributed architecture. While it is open-source software distributed globally via GitHub, its strategic development and the company providing enterprise support are headquartered in Beijing.
Currently, Nightingale is managed by Flashcat (Flashcat.cloud), a company founded by the original creators of the project. Flashcat serves as the ultimate owner and commercial entity, providing enterprise versions, cloud services, and technical support for the Nightingale ecosystem.
