Shin Ramyun is a globally recognized brand of spicy instant noodles produced by the South Korean food company Nongshim. Launched in October 1986, it was developed after extensive research into traditional Korean flavors, specifically focusing on a 'spicy' taste profile that represents the Korean palate. The brand name 'Shin' comes from a Chinese character meaning spicy and and is also the surname of the founder.
Manufacturing primarily takes place in South Korea, notably at their automated facilities in Anyang and Anseong. Due to its massive international demand, Nongshim has established manufacturing hubs in the United States (California) and China to serve regional markets. The product shown in the image features multi-language preparation instructions typical for the European or international export market.
Nongshim Co., Ltd. remains the ultimate owner of the brand. It is an independent South Korean conglomerate specialized in food and beverage products, having branched off from the Lotte Group in the 1960s. Today, it stands as the largest instant noodle and snack manufacturer in South Korea.
