Alhambra Especial is a premium pale lager brewed by Cervezas Alhambra, a brand deeply rooted in the city of Granada, Spain. Founded in 1925 by Carlos Bouvard and Antonio Knörr, the brewery was named after the city's iconic Alhambra palace. The brand has become a symbol of Andalusian brewing tradition, known for its slow fermentation process and distinct geometric label designs inspired by Islamic art found in the palace.
Over the decades, Cervezas Alhambra grew from a local brewery into a nationally recognized brand. In 2006, it was acquired by Mahou San Miguel, the largest Spanish-owned brewing company. This acquisition integrated Alhambra into a vast portfolio, ensuring its availability across international markets while maintaining its traditional production methods at its original Granada site and other facilities within the group. Today, it remains a flagship export representing Spanish craftsmanship in the global beer market.
