Founded in 1924 by Eli Belovitch and his son-in-law Harry Grosberg in Staffordshire, England, Belstaff became a pioneer in the production of waterproof garments. The brand is world-renowned for its signature waxed cotton fabric, which was originally designed to meet the rigorous demands of motorcyclists and aviators. Its iconic Trialmaster jacket became a symbol of adventure, famously worn by figures such as Che Guevara and Steve McQueen.

Over the decades, Belstaff transitioned from a functional utility brand into a high-end luxury fashion house. While the brand maintains deep British roots and its headquarters in London, its manufacturing footprint is international. High-end leather pieces are frequently crafted in Italy to leverage artisanal expertise, while other technical outerwear and waxed cotton garments are produced across Europe and Asia, depending on the specific line and material requirements.

Following a period of Italian ownership under the Malenotti family in the early 2000s and a subsequent acquisition by the Swiss luxury group Labelux, Belstaff was eventually acquired by the British multinational chemicals company INEOS in 2017. Under INEOS ownership, the brand has focused on reinforcing its heritage as a classic British label while expanding its global retail presence and modernizing its technical apparel collections.
