Tate & Lyle is an iconic British sugar brand with a heritage dating back to the late 19th century. It was formed through the 1921 merger of two rival sugar refineries owned by Henry Tate and Abram Lyle. The brand is famous for its Golden Syrup as well as its wide range of granulated sugars and sweeteners, which are staples in British households and the hospitality industry.

While the original Tate & Lyle PLC shifted its focus toward global food ingredients (now known as Tate & Lyle Solutions), the historic sugars division and the brand name for consumer products were sold. Today, Tate & Lyle Sugars is owned by American Sugar Refining, Inc. (ASR Group). Despite this American ownership, the production remains deeply rooted in the UK, primarily at the historic Thames Refinery in Silvertown, East London. This facility continues to process cane sugar for the UK and European markets, maintaining the brand's local manufacturing identity.
