Polestar is a premium Swedish automotive brand that evolved from Volvo's performance racing division, Polestar Racing, into a standalone manufacturer focused on high-performance electric vehicles. Established as a joint venture between Volvo Cars and Geely Holding, the brand centers its identity on Scandinavian design, sustainability, and technological innovation. Its headquarters remain in Gothenburg, Sweden, maintaining its European design roots.

The manufacturing of Polestar vehicles is global, reflecting its parent company's industrial footprint. While initial production was heavily concentrated in state-of-the-art facilities in Chengdu and Luqiao, China, the brand has expanded its assembly operations to Ridgeville, South Carolina, in the United States. Future production is also slated for Busan, South Korea, to serve various international markets. Currently, the brand is majority-owned by Geely Holding, one of China's largest private automotive groups, following a transition where Volvo Cars reduced its direct stake while remaining a strategic partner.
