The Martin D-28 is widely considered the quintessential acoustic guitar, serving as the benchmark for the steel-string dreadnought design since its introduction in the early 20th century. Renowned for its rich, balanced tone and powerful projection, it features a classic tonewood combination of solid Sitka spruce for the top and East Indian rosewood for the back and sides.
Manufacturing for the Standard Series, which includes the D-28, primarily takes place at C.F. Martin & Co.'s historic headquarters in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. While the company operates a secondary facility in Navojoa, Mexico, for its more affordable series and accessories, the iconic D-28 remains a flagship American-made product. The brand remains a rare example of a long-standing musical dynasty, still owned and operated by the descendants of the original founder over 190 years later.
