H&M (Hennes & Mauritz) is a world-renowned Swedish clothing retailer known for its fast-fashion business model. Founded in 1947 by Erling Persson, the brand originally started as a women's clothing store called 'Hennes' in Västerås, Sweden. After acquiring the hunting apparel retailer Mauritz Widforss in 1968, the brand transitioned to 'Hennes & Mauritz,' expanding its catalog to include menswear and children's items.

H&M does not own any factories themselves. Instead, their products are manufactured by around 600 independent suppliers, primarily across Asia and Europe. Major production hubs include China, Bangladesh, and India, though they also source from Turkey and several European nations to maintain a flexible supply chain. The brand is now the flagship of the H&M Group, which serves as the ultimate owner of several other major fashion brands like COS, Monki, and Weekday. The billionaire Persson family remains the largest shareholder, keeping the company's strategic roots firmly in Sweden.
