Four Roses is a historic bourbon brand that finds its roots in Kentucky, USA, dating back to 1888. Legend says that the founder, Paul Jones Jr., named his whiskey after a romantic encounter where his proposal was accepted by a lady wearing a corsage of four red roses. While the brand was a leader in the mid-20th century, it was largely absent from the US market as a straight bourbon for several decades, focusing instead on European and Asian retail markets where it became a top seller.

Today, Four Roses is produced at a unique Spanish Mission-style distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Since 2002, the brand has been owned by the Kirin Brewery Company of Japan. This acquisition revitalized the brand's presence in the United States, bringing its high-quality straight bourbon whiskies, like the Small Batch edition pictured, back to domestic consumers. The production process remains traditional, using two distinct mash bills and five proprietary yeast strains to create ten unique bourbon recipes.
