LÄTTA is a well-known brand of low-fat margarine spread. Originally launched by Unilever in Sweden during the 1980s, the brand quickly became a staple in European markets, particularly in Germany, Scandinavia, and the DACH region, marketed as a lighter alternative to butter.
In 2018, as part of a strategic shift, Unilever sold its global spreads business to KKR, which led to the formation of Upfield. Today, Upfield is the world's leading producer of plant-based spreads. While LÄTTA maintains its Scandinavian heritage in name and branding, it is manufactured at various Upfield production facilities across the European Union to serve local markets in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
