Philips Hue Bridge

The Philips Hue Bridge is the central brain of the smart lighting ecosystem originally developed by Philips. It serves as a bridge that connects Hue smart bulbs and accessories to the internet and smartphone applications via Zigbee technology.

While the Philips brand is quintessentially Dutch, the lighting division was spun off into an independent company. Although primarily designed in the Netherlands, the manufacturing of these electronic components is carried out in China to scale global distribution efficiently.

Starting in 2016, the brand was transitioned to Signify N.V., which holds the long-term license to use the Philips name for lighting products. Signify is a world leader in lighting and is headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
