Alpro is a pioneering European brand specializing in plant-based food and beverages. Founded in Belgium in 1980 by Philippe Vandemoortele, the brand initially gained popularity with its soy products. Since then, it has expanded its portfolio to include a wide range of beverages made from almonds, oats, hazelnuts, and more, specifically targeting the health-conscious and planet-friendly consumer market.
Over the decades, Alpro underwent several corporate transitions. It was acquired by WhiteWave Foods, which was later purchased by the French multinational food-products corporation Danone in 2017. Today, Alpro is a core component of Danone's plant-based division. Manufacturing is primarily centralized in Europe, with key facilities located in Wevelgem (Belgium), Kettering (United Kingdom), and Issenheim (France) to serve the global market.
