AEG is a historic German brand originally founded as the Allgemeine Elektricitäts-Gesellschaft in Berlin in 1883 by Emil Rathenau. Over its long history, the brand has become synonymous with German engineering and industrial design. While the original company was dissolved in the late 1990s, the brand name was licensed and acquired by various entities.
The 'AEG Haustechnik' (home technology) division, which specializes in products such as the small instantaneous water heater shown in the image, is managed under a licensing agreement. Since 2002, the home technology sector of AEG has been part of STIEBEL ELTRON, a specialist in green heating and water solutions. Manufacturing for these specific units primarily takes place in Thailand, where STIEBEL ELTRON operates modern production facilities, although the technical design remains rooted in German engineering standards.
Today, the AEG brand as a whole is owned by the Electrolux Group for major appliances, while Stiebel Eltron maintains the rights for the home technology and building services segment, ensuring a continued presence in the global HVAC and plumbing markets.
