Alpro is a pioneering brand in the plant-based food industry, originally founded in Belgium in 1980 by the Vandemoortele group. The brand focuses on producing dairy alternatives from ingredients like soy, almonds, hazelnuts, oats, and coconuts. Over the decades, Alpro has expanded its production across Europe, establishing manufacturing facilities in Belgium, France, and the United Kingdom to meet growing international demand. In 2017, Alpro became part of the Danone group after Danone acquired WhiteWave Foods (the previous owner). Today, Alpro is a core component of Danone's plant-based portfolio, managed from Danone's headquarters in France, while maintaining strong regional operations and production centers throughout the European Union.
