Canderel is a globally recognized brand of artificial sweeteners, best known for its low-calorie alternatives to sugar. Originally launched in France in 1979 by G.D. Searle & Company, the brand quickly became a household name across Europe and Africa. The brand's signature products often utilize aspartame, sucralose, or stevia to provide sweetness without the caloric intake associated with sucrose.

Over the decades, the ownership of Canderel has changed through major corporate acquisitions. For many years, it was part of Merisant, a company created specifically to manage the sweetener brands formerly owned by Monsanto. In 2018, Merisant and its flagship brand Canderel were acquired by Whole Earth Brands, an American global food company focused on clean label, plant-based, and alternative-sugar ingredients. Manufacturing today takes place in several locations across Europe and North America to serve its extensive distribution network in the EMEA region and beyond.
