Camel Blue Cigarettes

Camel is a well-known brand of cigarettes that was originally introduced by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in the United States in 1913. It became famous for using a blend of Turkish and Virginia tobacco, a combination that significantly influenced the modern cigarette market.

Manufacturing of Camel products occurs in various locations worldwide depending on the market. In the United States, production remains with R.J. Reynolds, while international production for global markets is handled by Japan Tobacco International (JTI).

Ownership of the brand is split between two major entities. Within the United States, Camel is owned by Reynolds American, which is a subsidiary of British American Tobacco. Outside of the United States, the brand is owned and operated by Japan Tobacco Inc. This split ownership occurred in 1999 when R.J. Reynolds sold its international tobacco business to Japan Tobacco.
