ICA Foods

ICA is a dominant retail brand with deep roots in the Swedish cooperative movement. Originally founded as Inköpscentralernas AB in 1938, the brand was established to unite independent retailers under a single sourcing and branding umbrella. Today, the ICA brand covers a vast range of private label products including basic groceries, organic lines, and premium kitchenware.

The manufacturing of ICA branded products is highly diversified. While fresh produce, dairy, and meat are predominantly sourced from Sweden to support local farmers and ensure freshness, other goods are manufactured across Europe and globally depending on the product type. Every ICA product is subject to strict quality and sustainability guidelines managed by the parent organization.

Ownership of the brand is currently held by ICA Gruppen. Following a major corporate restructuring and delisting from the Stockholm Stock Exchange in early 2022, the group became primarily owned by ICA-handlarnas Förbund (the Association of ICA Retailers) and AMF, keeping the brand deeply connected to its original collective of independent shop owners.
