Gauloises is a classic French brand of cigarettes, originally launched in 1910. It is well-known for its historical association with French culture and was traditionally made from dark tobacco. Today, the brand offers various blends, including the 'Liberté' line shown here in packaging for the German market. While the brand is quintessentially French in origin, the manufacturing of these products for the European market is largely centralized in large-scale facilities in Poland and Germany.

Ownership of the brand has changed significantly over the decades. It was originally created by the French state-owned monopoly SEITA. Through a series of mergers, it became part of Altadis, which was eventually acquired by Imperial Brands (formerly Imperial Tobacco). As of 2024 and beyond, Imperial Brands remains the ultimate parent company, managing Gauloises as one of its core international flagship brands.
