Panadol is one of the world's most recognized brands for pain relief, fundamentally based on the active ingredient paracetamol. Since its introduction, it has become a household name globally, often associated with safety and efficacy for over-the-counter pain management.
The manufacturing of Panadol occurs in various strategic locations around the world to serve different markets. Major production hubs include facilities in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Australia. These plants ensure high standards of quality control and distribution to millions of consumers across more than 80 countries.
Ownership of the brand has evolved through major corporate shifts in the pharmaceutical industry. Originally developed by Frederick Stearns & Co, it became part of Sterling Drug before passing to GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). In 2022, GSK successfully spun off its consumer healthcare division into an independent, publicly traded entity named Haleon, which now manages and owns the Panadol brand globally.
