Bugaboo is a renowned Dutch mobility brand that revolutionized the juvenile products market with the introduction of its iconic high-end strollers. Founded in 1994 by designer Max Barenbrug and physician Eduard Zanen, the brand became a global standard for design-led parenthood after gaining massive popularity in the early 2000s.
While the company's research, development, and design remain headquartered in Amsterdam, the physical manufacturing of the strollers and accessories is largely concentrated in the company's own factory in Xiamen, China. This ensures consistent quality control and adherence to international safety standards. In late 2018, Bugaboo was acquired by the global investment firm Bain Capital, marking a transition from a founder-led company to one owned by a major international private equity group to further its global expansion strategy.
