The image shows a limited edition packaging of Sorriso toothpaste, a heritage brand deeply rooted in Brazilian history. This specific version is inspired by Kolynos, a legendary brand that was dominant in Brazil for decades until it was retired in clinical branding transitions following corporate acquisitions. The flavor profile is designed to replicate the nostalgic taste of the original Kolynos product.
Historically, Kolynos was an American brand created in 1908 and later acquired by American Home Products. In 1995, Colgate-Palmolive acquired Kolynos for $1 billion globally. However, due to antitrust regulations in Brazil (CADE), the Kolynos brand name had to be suspended for several years to prevent a market monopoly, leading to the launch of the Sorriso brand as its tactical replacement. Today, Sorriso remains one of Brazil's most popular oral care brands under the stewardship of the US multinational Colgate-Palmolive.
