Lindt & Sprüngli is a world-renowned Swiss chocolatier with roots dating back to 1845. The brand originated in Zurich when David Sprüngli-Schwarz and his son, Rudolf Sprüngli-Ammann, produced the first solid bar of chocolate in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The company reached a historic milestone in 1899 when it acquired the chocolate factory of Rodolphe Lindt, the inventor of the 'conching' process which revolutionized chocolate making by creating the smooth-melting texture the brand is famous for today.

Today, Lindt & Sprüngli remains an independent Swiss company headquartered in Kilchberg, Switzerland. While its heart remains Swiss, the company has expanded its production footprint globally to meet international demand. It operates major manufacturing facilities across Europe and the United States. In North America, Lindt has a significant presence through its subsidiaries, including Lindt USA, Ghirardelli, and Russell Stover, making it one of the largest players in the premium chocolate market worldwide.
