Gentalyn Beta is a widely recognized pharmaceutical cream used for treating infected inflammatory skin conditions. It contains a combination of gentamicin sulfate (an antibiotic) and betamethasone valerate (a corticosteroid). The brand was historically developed by Schering-Plough, an American pharmaceutical giant that later merged with Merck & Co. (known as MSD outside the US and Canada).
In 2021, Merck & Co. completed a spin-off of several business units, including legacy brands and women's health products, into a new independent public company called Organon. Consequently, Gentalyn Beta is now part of the Organon portfolio. While Organon is headquartered in the United States, it operates a global supply chain. Manufacturing for the European market, specifically for labels like the one in the image (Italian market), often occurs in various European facilities, though the brand’s strategic and ultimate ownership remains American.
