Twiglets are a well-known wheat-based savory snack characterized by their distinctive knobbly shape and strong flavor, which is widely compared to Marmite or yeast extract. The snack was originally invented in 1929 by the French biscuit maker J. Rondot while working for Peak Freans in London. They were first launched commercially onto the British market in 1932.

Over the decades, the brand transitioned through various corporate mergers and acquisitions. Originally a Peak Freans product, it became part of Associated Biscuits, then Nabisco, and eventually settled under the Jacobs Bakery Group. Today, Twiglets are produced in the United Kingdom under the Jacob’s brand. The brand is now owned by Pladis Global, a multinational confectionery and snack foods company formed through the consolidation of several major snack entities.

Manufacturing primarily takes place at the Aintree factory in Liverpool. Despite their polarizing flavor profile, Twiglets remain a staple of British snack culture, particularly during festive holiday periods like Christmas.
