Established in 1898 by Pietro Domenis in Cividale del Friuli, Italy, the brand has spent over a century perfecting the distillation of pomace, the remains of grapes after winemaking. The Storica line, and specifically the Nera variant, remains one of their most iconic spirits, known for its high alcohol content and refined elegance.

The product is manufactured entirely in Italy at the company's distillery in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Although the distillery faced financial challenges and underwent restructuring around 2016, it was revitalized by a new management team that preserved the original artisanal methods. As of 2026, the brand remains under Italian ownership, maintaining its legacy as a pillar of traditional Italian spirits production.
