Laxoberal is a well-known German pharmaceutical brand specializing in laxative treatments, specifically using the active ingredient sodium picosulfate. The brand was originally developed by the German pharmaceutical giant Boehringer Ingelheim, which invented the active substance and established Laxoberal as a leading household name for digestive health in Europe.
In 2017, Boehringer Ingelheim completed a major strategic asset swap with the French multinational Sanofi. As part of this deal, Sanofi acquired Boehringer Ingelheim's entire Consumer Healthcare (CHC) business, including the Laxoberal brand. Consequently, while the brand maintains its historical German origins and high manufacturing standards within Europe, it is now part of Sanofi's global health portfolio. Production continues to take place at specialized plants, primarily in Germany and France, ensuring strict adherence to pharmaceutical regulations.
