Milka Löffel Ei is a seasonal chocolate product consisting of alpine milk chocolate eggs filled with a smooth milk cream, designed to be eaten with a spoon. The brand Milka was originally founded in Switzerland in 1901 by Philippe Suchard, whose lilac-colored packaging and Swiss Alps imagery became iconic symbols of the brand. Manufacturing for Milka products is now decentralized, with major production facilities located in Poland and Germany to serve the European market.
Today, Milka is one of the most prominent brands under the umbrella of Mondelez International, a massive American multinational confectionery and snack food company. Following a series of mergers and acquisitions—most notably the acquisition of Jacobs Suchard by Philip Morris (later Kraft Foods) and the subsequent spin-off of Kraft’s snack division—Milka has transitioned from a local Swiss legacy brand to a global powerhouse headquartered in the United States.
