Oral-B is a globally leading brand in the oral hygiene sector, most famous for its advanced electric toothbrushes and dental floss. The brand's history is rooted in the United States, where it was founded in 1950 by Dr. Robert W. Hutson, a periodontist who designed the first multi-tufted nylon toothbrush named the Oral-B 60.
Over several decades, the brand evolved through various ownership structures, notably being acquired by the blade manufacturer Gillette in 1984. The product illustrated here, the iO Series 3, represents the brand's premium segment using advanced magnetic technology. These high-end electric handles and a significant portion of the Oral-B power brush range are primarily manufactured in Germany, where Braun’s long-standing engineering expertise remains a core part of the production process.
Today, Oral-B is owned by the American multinational consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G). Since acquiring Gillette in 2005, P&G has integrated Oral-B into its healthcare division, combining it with other brands like Crest to maintain a dominant position in the international dental health market.
