Founded in 1882 in West London, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) is a historic professional football club with deep roots in the Shepherd's Bush and Queen's Park areas. The club was formed following the merger of Christchurch Rangers and St Jude's Institute, adopting its current name in 1886. Known as "The Hoops" due to their iconic blue and white horizontal striped kits, the club's most significant achievement remains winning the League Cup in 1967.
Over the decades, the club's ownership has transitioned from local businessmen to high-profile international investors. In 2007, the club gained global attention when it was acquired by Formula One figures Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore. However, by 2011, the majority stake was sold to Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes, under whose leadership the club spent several seasons in the Premier League.
Today, the club is primarily owned by a consortium led by Ruben Gnanalingam, alongside American investor Richard Reilly and the family of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal. Despite this international investment, the club remains an English institution, headquartered and operating at the MATRADE Loftus Road Stadium in London, competing within the English Football League system.
