The 'Hen on Nest' is a classic piece of American decorative glassware. This particular version is crafted in iridescent amber 'Carnival' glass, a style that became highly collectible for its metallic, rainbow-like shimmer.
Indiana Glass Company was a cornerstone of American glass manufacturing for over a century. The company was famous for producing a wide range of pressed glass patterns and utility ware. This specific design features a beaded rim on the base (nest) and a detailed hen lid. While many companies produced hen-on-nest dishes, the Indiana Glass version remains one of the most recognizable examples of mid-to-late 20th-century Americana décor. Production of these items largely ceased following the closure of their main facilities in the early 2000s.
