Goya Cream of Coconut is a sweetened, processed version of coconut milk specifically formulated for beverages and desserts. The Goya brand was founded in 1936 by Prudencio Unanue Ortiz and Carolina Unanue, Spanish immigrants who initially started the business in lower Manhattan, New York.

The brand has grown to become the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States. While the corporate headquarters are located in Jersey City, New Jersey, the company maintains extensive manufacturing and distribution facilities across the Caribbean and Latin America. Products like Cream of Coconut are frequently manufactured in the Dominican Republic to take advantage of local coconut sourcing and established processing plants. Goya remains a privately held, family-owned enterprise managed by the Unanue family.
