The Pacific Handy Cutter S5 is a specialized safety utility knife designed for retail and industrial environments. It is a staple in many grocery and warehouse settings due to its three-in-one functionality that includes a box cutter, tape splitter, and film cutter, all designed to reduce workplace injuries. Pacific Handy Cutter (PHC), the brand behind the product, was founded in Costa Mesa, California, in 1950 and is credited with inventing the original 'Handy Cutter.'

Historically, the brand operated as a family-owned business specializing in innovative safety cutting tools. In the late 2010s, PHC was acquired by the American Safety Razor Company (ASR), which itself is a subsidiary of the global conglomerate Edgewell Personal Care. This acquisition integrated PHC's industrial safety expertise into a broader portfolio of blade and hardware products. Today, while many of their professional-grade safety cutters are still manufactured or assembled in the United States to meet specific quality standards, components and high-volume retail lines are also produced in international facilities in China.
