The SD2SNES Pro is a high-end flash cartridge designed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), allowing users to run digital backups of games and homebrew software on original hardware. It was originally developed by the hardware engineer known as ikari_01 (ikari_g). The technology behind the cartridge, including the specialized FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) firmware, was conceived and refined in Germany. Unlike traditional commercial video games, the SD2SNES (now largely succeeded by the FXPak Pro) exists as an open-source hardware project supported by a enthusiast community.

Manufacturing of these cartridges occurs in several locations. Original high-quality units were famously assembled in Ukraine by Krikzz, a specialized manufacturer of retro gaming hardware. Additionally, there are numerous third-party producers globally, particularly in China, that manufacture compatible versions under various brand names. In recent years, Krikzz rebranded the official version of this hardware to 'FXPak Pro' due to trademarking and naming preference, though the 'SD2SNES Pro' name remains common for legacy and third-party units. Ownership of the core technology and intellectual property remains with the original developer, ikari_01, while the Krikzz brand is the primary authorized retailer and manufacturer for official units.
