Newport Menthol Cigarettes

Newport is one of the most recognizable American menthol cigarette brands. Originally introduced in 1957 by the Lorillard Tobacco Company, it was created to provide a refreshingly different tobacco experience. The brand quickly grew in popularity, especially within urban markets, becoming one of the best-selling menthol brands in the world.

In 2015, the brand's landscape changed significantly when Reynolds American Inc. acquired Lorillard. This acquisition moved Newport under the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company umbrella. Eventually, British American Tobacco (BAT) completed its acquisition of Reynolds American in 2017, making BAT the ultimate owner of the brand. Manufacturing for the U.S. market is primarily concentrated in North Carolina, USA.
