Conservas Calvo is a premier Spanish brand with a history dating back to 1940, when Luis Calvo Sanz founded a small canning factory in Carballo, Spain. The brand is globally recognized for revolutionizing the canned seafood industry by introducing yellowfin tuna to the Spanish market and inventing the iconic three-pack and round can formats that have since become industry standards.

Today, the brand operates as part of Nauterra (formerly known as Grupo Calvo), a vertically integrated global food group. Manufacturing takes place across several strategic locations, primarily in Spain (Carballo), El Salvador (Puerto La Unión), and Brazil. The group maintains its own fishing fleet to ensure a sustainable and high-quality supply of raw materials. In 2023, the parent company rebranded to Nauterra to unify its international brands, including Calvo, Nostromo, and Gomes da Costa, under a single corporate identity focused on sustainability and healthy nutrition.

Ownership of the brand remains predominantly in the hands of the founding Calvo family, who hold approximately 77.8% of the company. The Italian conglomerate Bolton Group holds a minority stake of 22.2%, which they acquired in 2017. The company continues to be headquartered in Spain, maintaining its heritage while expanding its presence to over 70 countries worldwide.
