SCOTT Sports, formerly known as Scott USA, has a storied history that began in 1958 when Ed Scott, a talented engineer and ski racer from Sun Valley, Idaho, revolutionized skiing by inventing the first tapered aluminum ski pole. This innovation effectively replaced the industry-standard bamboo and steel poles, setting the stage for decades of technical leadership in the sports industry. The brand expanded into motocross in the 1970s and launched its first mountain bike in 1986, eventually moving its headquarters to Givisiez, Switzerland.

Today, SCOTT is a global powerhouse across several disciplines, including high-end cycling, winter sports, running, and motorsports. While the brand maintains its design and engineering hub in Switzerland, production is decentralized across global manufacturing hubs. High-performance carbon and aluminum bicycle frames are predominantly manufactured in Taiwan and Vietnam, while various apparel and accessory lines are produced in European and Asian factories. Since 2015, the company has been under the ultimate ownership of the South Korean Youngone Corporation, which acquired a majority stake to bolster its portfolio in the outdoor and sporting goods markets.
