Lanvin is recognized as one of the oldest and most prestigious French couture houses still in operation. The brand was founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin, who transformed a small millinery shop into a global fashion empire. Today, it remains a pillar of high-end luxury, known for its elegant footwear, handbags, and ready-to-wear collections that blend historical craftsmanship with modern artistic direction.
While the brand's creative heart remains in Paris, its manufacturing is largely centered in Italy and France to maintain the high standards of European craftsmanship associated with luxury goods. Small accessories and certain components may be sourced globally depending on specialized expertise.
Starting in 2018, Lanvin shifted from French private ownership to becoming the flagship brand of the Lanvin Group (formerly Fosun Fashion Group). This transition has allowed the brand to expand its presence in international markets, particularly in Asia and North America, under the stewardship of one of China's largest private conglomerates.
